I think this is a very creative way to expose younger people to history. It's a format they'd likely find more interesting than a standard history book and the artwork is beautiful. A definite must read to expand on one's understanding of history, and for everyone to read to help add context to an important part of history.

Perhaps my favourite of the series thus far, although favourite certainly feels like the wrong word. Personally, I really felt like this particular volume expanded my own understanding of colonialism - namely the fact that people were exported from Turtle Island back to Europe not only as curiosities (horrendous) but also as part of a slave economy. The entire series is well worth reading, although it is very obviously geared towards children. Certainly something that takes a lot of skill, but something that is a bit of a turn off to those of us who are not in that demographic.

I've definitely been enjoying all the books from Tales from Big Spirit so far (along with everything I have read from David Alexander Robertson), and this is no exception. Shawnadithit is a fascinating person to learn about, and this is a great introduction to a painful part of history.

I definitely recommend this one.
