" كان يعلم أن الحياة أقصر من أن يتيح للمرء تدارك سوء اختياره."
ان القراءة لـ "ميلان كونديرا" بحاجة الى اجواء خاصة والى تقبل لما تقرأ دون احكام مسبقة لانه بالطريقة التي يطرح بها في هذه الرواية "الهوية" التساؤلات الوجودية التي تخطرُ على بالنا جميعنا بطريقة جرئية وقوية هذا بالاضافة الى المشاهد الجنسية التي رافقت الطرح.
ولكن لا يقدم "كونديرا" الجواب، يتركك تبحث عنه حتى تغلق الكتاب، يترك لك الاستنتاجات دون التدخل في قرارك الشخصي ورؤيتك للامور وكيف ستؤثر على حياتك وحالتك. عندما طرح السؤال الاهم "لماذا نحيا؟؟" طرحه اكثر من مرة في القسم الاخير من الرواية وباستمرار وعلى لسان اكثر من شخصية وكان جواب كل واحد منهم مختلف. وهذا ما يترك القارئ يتعطش لمعرفة اين يرد "كونديرا" ان يصل ماذا يريد ان يقول؟؟ ويبقى هذا السؤال مصاحباً دون الحصول على جواب شافي او حتى على رؤية واحة من قبله.
كل هذا تجد له المبرر لانه بالتالي لا يطرح سؤال اعتيادي بسيط ، انه يطرح سؤال جوهري هز معتقدات وغير اراء وتسبب في جدال عميق، ولكن ما لا تجد له مبرر هو المشاهد الجنسية التي يضيفها باستمرار وبكثرة وبتفاصيل مملة دون هدف او غاية فقط لمجرد اضافة عامل جذب ربما؟؟!!
رواية تطرح رؤية مختلفة للسؤال الوجودي ورحلة ممتعة في الفلسلفة ولكن دون جواب.

Maybe were my expectations too high but i felt like this book was pretty empty.

The main characteristic in all Kundera’s books is the focus on the characters’ flaws, which on one hand make the reader despite them at first but, after putting some thought into what their behaviour is in certain situations, develop a feeling of empathy, thinking that they would act in a similar way if being in their shoes.

Al principio, no parece que la historia tenga sentido, parece como pegada con Colbón rendido, pues es acerca de una pareja de enamorados sin perspectiva de separación (algo muy poco Kunderiano). Pues la historia mantiene a los enamorados juntos casi artificialmente, y no vemos el flujo armónico y cruelmente divertido tan común en otros libros. Pero la historia pronto degenera en el caos, y la realidad se mezcla con los temores de los protagonistas, lo que hace que lo que parece un molesto Bolero dé pie a un delicioso y disonante Klavierstucke sin que nos demos cuenta.
