my queen anne rice…. you had the most interesting idea in the world and some of these chapters were stunningly interesting and written. but there’s also like 150 pages where i was incredibly bored. lestat falling for roger felt the exact same as his falling for david and it made me feel like it completely lessened their connection as if david wasn’t special to him? and roger- you’re literally a sadistic murderer i don’t want to hear your 50 page monologue. like the overall story is incredible but so much gets stuck with these speeches by people i don’t care about and am given no reason to. also, i was told beforehand there would be a scene of him eating out a woman for her blood and i’ve been WAITING so many books to get here for it and that was IT?!?!?!?! BOOOO!!!!!! i HATED that it was infront of david and armand, i HATED that it was done so creepily and forcefully when i believe she would’ve been happy to have a moment alone w him. imagine instead when he came back and told them the story that he did let her cuddle w him and then he said how tired but hungry he was but didn’t want to hurt anyone and then they did that? like ugh come on. the last 100 pages did suck me back in because i thought the way she told how god kicked memnoch out of heaven was wonderful and theologically the entire premise is incredibly well thought out and interesting. i just wish that it hadn’t of felt like so much of a chore to get through. but i will do anything to read about lestat so :/ as always, onto the next! (probably taking a small break tho bc so preachy and talky i need soemthing dumb and fast paced hahahah)

i mean really just a fantastic opening and fantastic ending and some stuff in the middle just REALLY needed rewriting
