Toxic relationship, SA triggers, assault. He burns down her literal house and she is just so fine about that. It's gotta be a "No" from me dawg, sorry.

So this is a hard one to describe, on one hand I really enjoyed reading this book, because it got me out of a reading slump and is really fast paced. But there were many scenes I thought were not okay.
First, Micheal doesn't like to explain him self most of the time, which often ends in miscommunication. Also they often treated Rika like shit and when she said No to the actions they often still continued and said stuff like, but I know you want it so bad. And also she never really seemed bothered by it most of the time.
The story line though was really interesting, sometimes a little bit confusing, but it was written in a way you couldn't put the book down. I'm not really sure yet if I want to continue the series, but if you have a high tolerance rate it is okay to read. But if you can't read story's that are sometimes a little bit unmorally than this might not be the right book for you

Really really weird plot and not even a cute romance. Something inexplicable that’s just engaging about this book

Before starting my review I'd like to remind you to check trigger warnings. This book is recommended for 18+ because of certain topics such as mental abuse, strong bullying, sexual harassment, possessiveness, and many others. Also this is NOT a romantic novel, it's a dark romance and these types of books set women rights below zero. This implies that you shouldn't take what's written for reality. So if you're sensible, I suggest not reading this book. Starting with my actual review, I'm glad to say that queen Penelope Douglas never fails to impress me. This story is the perfect mix between dark, mystery, and spice. It is a roller coaster of emotions, hence why it is such a page-turner. I loved the continuous tension and cliffhangers due to the changes between the two storylines (past and present). I loved the characters and it was really interesting to see what's going on inside their minds. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE PLOT TWIST. I really didn't see that coming. My favourite characters are definitely Kai (the calculating and ruthless one) and Damon (the impetuous and preposterous one). I really enjoyed Michael and Rika's love story and the spicy scenes were IMMACULATE (one word: sauna). I read this book in one afternoon and (imo) it's definitely a 5 star read.
PS: was I the only one lmfao every time someone said the words "Fucking Trevor" remembering that one scene during the After 2 movie when Hardin saw Trevor hiding in Tessa's bathroom? That scene was simply ICONIC.
