I LOLed a LOT while reading this book, the only reason I didn’t give it a higher rating is because I hadn’t seen all the movies she covered and I wasn’t going to watch “Terminator 2” and “The Rock” just so I could understand Lindy’s analysis. But overall super funny and an enjoyable read!

First off thank you to @librofm and @hachetteaudio for the ALC copy of #shitactually by @thelindywest

Secondly I would like to take you to my second job I ever had, and one of the best jobs for a 17-22 year old kid to have! #marcuscinema I made some of the best friends here and I still have them in my life well over 10 years after I started working there. Hence the photo taken of the aforementioned movie theater!

Shit Actually was Sooooo entertaining! And once again Lindy’s audiobook narration skills are FIRE! Even if she came for my favorite Christmas movie with a butcher knife! #notcool #loveactually

As a former self proclaimed “movie buff” (can you really work at a cinema and not think this about yourself?!) I found her commentary on popular, and in some cases cult classic, films to be ridiculously honest and accurate! I particularly enjoy her breakdowns in action movies starring Nicholas Cage. I Adored the Rush Hour review because damnit she was so right about the racism and bigotry running rampant here that movie still slaps!

This is a book that it would be a pretty good idea to have some knowledge of the movies she discusses herein but I think even if you aren’t too familiar you’ll still be highly entertained. My rating is 9 out of 10 DVD’s of the Fugative (which is coincidentally the only film in this book I have not seen before, but I will be rectifying!) and on goodreads 4/5

DNF 55%. I feel like I’d have to watch each movie before reading a chapter to fully get it.

This book is nearly a five star read. I laughed out loud A LOT while listening to it, but there were a few essays that fell a little flat for me. I would definitely recommend this book to any movie buffs who like to laugh.

A laugh-out-loud funny look at popular movies from the past 40 years, through the lens of an insightful and hilarious feminist.
