My faith in Katherine Center has been restored! This story had some heartbreaking moments, but the overall message was uplifting. I loved the firefighter setting. It kind of reminded me of the show 911 but with less action. The main romantic relationship was great, and I loved the platonic relationships too. I love stories about people learning how to open up again after a tragedy. In my opinion, this book is a beautiful depiction of overcoming trauma.

I liked the story and she really developed the main character but the other characters - and the love story - were underdeveloped imo. But if you love Katherine Center, the elements are still there in main character dev, banter and Gilmore Girl level cast of characters
Some things I felt were annoying like her calling him the rookie all the time even once they’d gotten to know each other better

Cassie uprooted her life and moved across the country to take care of her estranged mother. This meant changing fire departments, facing past hardships, and navigating the sexism of her new job. She expects the struggle of being a woman firefighter in a small town, but she doesn't expect to learn forgiveness and love.

I continue to surprise myself by enjoying romance novels. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about this one, but it sucked me in. I became so invested in the love story, but I also loved seeing Cassie learn forgiveness and allow people to let her in.

For those who watch Station 19 and enjoy it, you'd like this novel! It reminded me of it in a lot of ways.

Only the second book I have read by Katherine Center, but I can say that her books never disappoint. So beautiful, and heartbreaking, and romantic. Such a great love story with no spice. It feels like spice would have taken away from their connection.
