Surprised this is published as YA lit based on the level of violence, and bloodshed. The plot was intricately drawn out and clearly the author was influenced by The Hunger Games as well as a specific storyline in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire along with many other dystopian and fantasy novels. Nevertheless, I wanted to finish the book which deserves as least 2 stars. I just feel it was too drawn out to not really wrap up at the end. I know this was intentional for purposes of a sequel but I’m left wanting to feel like the story ended in some type of way and that is missing for me.
