This is a 6 star book for me. Was the concept original? No. Was the writing perfect? Also no. But did I have the best time reading it? Absolutely, yes. This has some of the best tension I have ever read between two characters. There is so much action that you seriously cannot be bored reading this. Lauren Robert’s truly made this story her own and I loved every single page.

this book was way too long. it was just dragged on and on. i think if all you want is banter than you’ll like this because the entire book was banter between the love interests and that’s it. nothing else was fully fleshed out at all— even though it was so long. they barely touched on paedyns relationship w adena— which made it so that her death wasn’t even that big of a deal. there was no subtly. everything was overexplained and then explained again by the other characters pov. from the beginning, kai and paedyn liked each other. there was no enemies to lovers like promised. it was like insta- lust and then feelings that basically remained stagnant for the rest of the book. i thought there was gonna be smut but apparently it’s YA so i guess that was my bad. there’s nothing special about this i don’t know why it’s so popular. like it’s not as bad as some people say i guess but it’s DEFINITELY not as good as some people say. i didn’t care about any of the characters at all and none of their relationships felt real— even paedyn and kai. mid af.

i liked the characters but the plot/ world building was not the best. also too many sentences with repetitive words that fell flat. the plot twist was pretty good and might make me want to read the next one
