Another refreshing and unexpected tale in the Parasol Protectorate series... and I loved it! (Warning: you shouldn't read these books if you take yourself too seriously). I enjoy this series so much; these books actually give my brain a rest after reading books that find themselves overly intellectual! But with that said, it does take a certain amount of intellectualism to appreciate the humor! The characters and story were witty, sassy and unique as ever. But the ending, oh my, the ending, it's terrible. Not in the badly written, not interesting way, but in the heart-wrenching, "that didn't really just happen" kind of way. I was very surprised that these funny and quirky books could end with such sorrowful and stressful emotions for me. Bravo Miss Carriger! I'm running to my bookshelf right now to grab and read the graphic novel version.....

Alexia kills me with her demeanour and never ruffled attitude, she’s entirely entertaining. Her bff’s ridiculousness and her sister’s awfulness, only makes Alexia more likeable.
That said, holy hell the end of this book made me so angry, I doubt I will read the next book anytime soon.

Good followup to the original, perhaps even funnier since less establishing the worldview was needed. The ending made me angry, not because it was badly written but because I was unhappy with what happened. Well worth the read.

Tack Styxx för detta bok exemplar!
En helt fantastiskt bok! Dock tycker jag att första boken var snäppet bättre då jag den hade lite mer spänning än denna bok.
Det var emellertid mycket lättare att läsa Chanslös då jag inte hade så mycket problem med att lära mig all fakta som jag hade i Själlös, jag är en förvirrad person så det var riktigt skönt att bara få läsa utan att tänka allt för mycket.
Tycker det är lite tråkigt att baksidestexten innehöll lite för mycket spoilers, man kunde nästan räkna ut slutet tack vare texten och det gjorde att läsupplevelsen förstördes lite, men bara lite det var fortfarande en riktigt underhållande bok.
Även fast boken var lite seg på sina ställen så gör det inte sådär jätte mycket för karaktärerna är så fantastisk underbara att de livar upp allt med sin humor, det behöver ju inte alltid vara fart och spänning för att boken ska vara underhållande att läsa. Dock måste jag klaga på att ibland kunde de flesta karaktärerna kunde bete sig ganska ologiska. Detta hör i och för sig ihop med bokens humor men jag kunde tycka att det blev lite för mycket ibland. Jag kunde störa mig på Ivy jag vet inte hur många gånger på hur dum hon var, gud vilken kvinna!
Men herrejesus vilket slut! Ge mig nästa bok nu tack!
Jag vill så gärna vänta till den svenska översättningen ska komma ut och faktiskt läsa klart serien på svenska men jag vet inte om jag orkar vänta så länge. Tredje boken, Hemlös (Blameless) släpps i och för sig nu i maj om jag minns rätt men tänk om den också slutar så spännande, orkar jag vänta då? Om jag känner mig själv rätt - förmodligen inte.

I struggled with this one, showing my lack of stamina for the pretentious supposed higher class ways. And then it ends with everyone being stupid. I don't plan on continuing since it's so obvious HOW she got knocked up by the werewolf husband since he turns human when touching her and I can't abide reading more of the stupidity, let alone her being punished for it.

Ok here's the thing. This book, while enjoyable, was very predictable. I did enjoy the introduction of some characters from the past. I am very interested in seeing how this plays out.
