Maybe I’ll finish this before it’s time to return it to the library, probably not. I’m learning to let go of books. Especially books I didn’t even pay for. This book was not going where I expected it to. 😐

Absolutely loved! Couldn't put it down. So enjoyable to read well-crafted writing and an engrossing plot. I love novels inspired by folklore and fairytales.

I really wanted to love this, but it was just alright. I loved the set up to and the early Sorcerer's Apprentice aspects, but I wanted more of that. I seemed as though the character becomes a powerful magician overnight, and there's a point where I just don't believe someone who is a natural could be equal to someone with decades of experience.
Still, the villain in this was terrific and it was well written, which made up for the introduction of too many characters at court and what felt like a hasty wrapped up finish. A solid read, but start with her other work to get a good idea of how good this author is.

Such a wonderful book. I love the deep connection the protagonist has with the forest. It shapes the story from beginning to end.
