Blud really wrote 300 pages about how a boy broke his arm while having themes surrounding racism and inequality

I see why this book is a classic! It’s good - and picked up in the middle. I enjoyed the court case and found the discussion of race to be particularly interesting when read over 50 years later. As someone who’s trying to cover the “classics,” this one was worth it.

A masterpiece that unravels wide range of themes. I sat up staring blankly at my walls for what I've gone through within this book up till its last pages. It was innocent yet disturbing. It was mind opening, yet you'd figure that you've been circling around since the start. Something was supposed to change, but changes are not made by one, or one's family. It's by all and everyone's family. I need not to say that it's a book that changes life. It blocks a useless hope but it raises joint efforts.

Wow. I really dropped the ball not reading this one until now. I'm sure it's much more impactful as a parent, though. Gripping, emotional ride from start to finish. Such perfect detail I had to keep reminding myself that it's a work of fiction.

Favorite fictional father so far! Just wow. And the slow unfolding of events as understood by a child overhearing things and not fully grasping the implications of situations is just perfection.
