I have already watched movie based on this novel around 4-5 years ago. It was a monotonous movie and I did not like it much. I only watched that movie because I had nothing else to do that time . That was the first time , I came to know about the novel. I came to know that the novel is pretty famous and it made me wonder how can the novel be famous but the movie is quite boring. So I decided to read the novel .

The story is based on narration of a young child girl what she saw and witnessed in 1930s in a small county Maycomb. It basically deals with society that time which was full of racism.

Since it is narration of a young child, it is full of interesting description of surroundings . Especially the Radley's place is beautifully described. As a child , she and her brother and friends believed on many rumors and unconsciously gave birth to many rumors regarding boo. The novel takes you in the mind on a child who is curious and adventurous especially regarding the Boo.

Jem was undergoing a change due to age and he tried to behave like adult some time. It is phenomenal behaviour that all child experience when they are in puberty stage. He acted tough infront of her sister and his friend Dill.

As living in a small town , you know almost all the people and their background. The town folks, the rural folks, and the coloured have been given an apt description . The Ewell , Bob etc fits in the place.

I can go detailing these minute details but I did not like the novel much. It was not tempting me to read it further. I just completed it because I don't want to leave it unfinished . It is boring and adds nothing .

I don't think I'll ever be able to write a review worthy of this masterpiece.
