Batman Vol. 10: Knightmares by Tom King

Reading this arc in singles was a real nightmare. Because they stuck a crossover in the middle of an already confusing dream narrative. Thankfully TPB readers are spared that extra bit of confusion, and are left only with the confusion of being thrown in the nightmare deep end and having to wade through and out of it. It's kind of a mixed bag in this experimental volume. Some of the match-ups of artist and story work wonders, some are perhaps less so. This is an exercise in delaying action for character exploration. This is both equal parts frustrating and rewarding. But, there's enough interesting stuff here that it feels worthwhile.

Ideas interesantes intercaladas en medio de una escusa onírica medio rellenista de probar diferentes estilos y tonos con los que seguir sacando provecho de la desperdiciada idea de la relación BatCat en general y la boda en particular.

This volume took some settling into in order to get the hang of what it was doing. It's intentionally choppy and a little surreal, and the rotating art helps build this effect. But at its core, Knightmares continues King's dive into the core of Batman's character, examining his motivations and fears amidst a situations that continue to grow beyond his control. King is building toward something bold with this series, and I'm excited to see what he does with it.

Life could be a dream, but instead this run seems intent on it being a nightmare. That's an issue for me.
Spoiler I liked the Clark and Lois additions as always (just wish that they were real) and it was cool to see Constantine pop up (just wish it was in a better storyline)

Verging on pretentious, to be honest. The art was amazing, and definitely the best feature of this volume.

The main plot here? Bruce is trapped on a nightmare, where he is marrying Selina and the other one where his father, Thomas, tells him to stop being Batman. Probably my favorite issues were 66-67, the art is so great. At the very last end we can see Thomas fighting Bane, and they’re planning to fo to Gotham which is weird as hell.
