OK, I’ve said it before, but I will say it again. Cindy Steel is absolutely amazing and I will eagerly read anything and everything she writes. I’m falling into fangirlcrush territory, but trying not to be weird

«“Huh,” he mumbled, stepping closer, his coat pressing against mine while his hands found my waist. “So that leaves me three days to convince your lying heart otherwise?” He leaned in closer, his mouth a whisper away from mine. The heat from his breath smelled minty and warm, and I wanted nothing more than to get lost in it. To breathe it in and…kiss him.
Oh no.
His mouth became my only focus as it moved closer, lips parted. […] I couldn’t think at all anymore and, instead, closed my eyes to block it out, my lips parting the slightest bit. Then I waited.
And waited.
I opened my eyes to find a triumphant Miles. Still too close to me. Still making my breathing erratic. He slid his lips away from mine, brushing them ever so softly across my cheekbone until he reached my ear. Chills raced down my entire nervous system and a soft heat billowed from his mouth as he whispered, “Game on.”»

Super cute - like reading a hallmark Christmas movie with a little more depth.

This book gives me mixed feelings a bit.
Did I like the narrator, Olive? Not, at all. In fact, she bugged me a lot. She was too negative and had absolutely NO idea what was going on with her feelings. It's like she was telling us (and Miles) one thing but then the story would progress like she did not feel that way.
Did I like the love interest, Miles? Kind of. I liked him for the most part but he seemed too assertive to me at times.
Could I stop reading the story? That's a big, fat no! The two main characters were English teachers, like myself, so of course I was instantly invested. And the story was written in a way that you had to keep reading.

Overall, a cute clean romance that left me feeling happy to have read the story. It's one I may even read again in the future for the holidays!

Notes:
- I really really liked this one for the ~romance butterflies~ but I do have a few bones to pick with it.
- Felt like the writing could've gone through another round of editing or something—had a few fanfic-y writing quirks plus some very questionable ones ("Out of some psychotic burst of Tourette's" when she literally doesn't have Tourette's syndrome???), some small but nonsensical character actions
Spoiler(Olive needs to kiss Miles so her family can "wrap their heads around it", Olive talking about teaching environment/their students like she's a teenager and not an adult), and no huge third act dip in the relationship (which could be an on-purpose narrative decision, but I sorta doubt it)
.
- Big ups for Miles he's a new fav romcom love interest. Get me a male lead who is flirty, super touchy and a tease. Guy falls first trope and he's just a golden retriever in a human suit. He's the sole reason for the 4 stars tbh.
