2.5 stars. This book reads like there was no clear outline, struggles to maintain steam, and climaxes midway without a well drawn buildup at the end.

I'm curious about what happens to the characters but am disappointed enough in this effort that I'm unlikely to continue reading the series.

What a difference. This was not marvelous enough to get the 5 stars, but it works. Twists and turns hold the story together and the characters develop nicely. Let's see how the series end.

While I liked the novel, there were some parts where I felt that Ransom Riggs was trying too hard to match the plot to the photographs that were included strategically throughout.

Another fun one! I'm still amazed at how Ransom Riggs took all these old found photographs and wrote a story around them. Very unique fantasy books. Looking forward to the conclusion!
