Felt very slow and was concentrating on the wrong descriptors. Characters hard to follow due to number of them

Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series is so fun and each book is unique in it's storyline, but the Three Pines characters we know and love are still big parts of the story. In Glass Houses, there appears on day on the town square a mysterious figure who it is later determined is a Cobrador - someone who will follow a person to create some public humiliation for some sin they have committed. The mystery in this book surrounds this mysterious person. It's well done and thought out, and the author's note at the end is great! I listened to this, as I do most of this series, and there's also a little conversation between Louise Penny and the narrator which is fun as well.

Reading these stories is like visiting family you haven’t seen in a while. You wonder how they are, want to hear their stories, and bask in their love. This story was a little slow, but seeing another part of Ruth made it all with while.

This was a great book. I wish I was healthy while I was reading it (I had a bad sinus infection at the time). I think I missed some things in the book as a result of my head being fuzzy. However, overall a great book with a great theme with results to reverberate through the next books.

This 13th book in the Armand Gamache series is an edge-of-your seat thriller that tackles a lot of very big issues--the illegal drug trade, organized crime, cartels and external manipulation of the legal system. I enjoyed the book, and it kept me going, but there were a lot of coincidences and unaddressed legal manipulations, I just can't see a sting of this complexity and as illegal as this one was, set up by any police force actually going forward anywhere. In fact, it is beyond belief and smacks of police corruption. I think it might be time to take a break from this series. I'm beginning to think too much Gamache is not a good thing. I get so angry with him and his "God-complex." At the same time this book is very well-written and the plot hung together remarkably. That is why I gave it four stars.
