I didn't love the previous two books but this one was a banger!
that finale was amazing.
also, after 6 books I felt like the "formula" of the plot was getting a little predictable, so I really enjoyed that this story broke with that formula towards the end.
sidenote: I'm really not feeling the Alex/Anne romance though

This book felt like a turning point but not one that was unexpected or even really earned. Sometimes it feels like this series is a sequence of tasks failed successfully and gaining influence/responsibility in spite of the characters supposedly not wanting/asking it.
There was one moment that felt genuine and I appreciated it but it was surrounded by a forced situation that detracted from it and effectively cheapened it.
