Excellent read especially in working on one's self and confidence. I like the whole idea of living in acceptance of who you are and it's definitely something I'm looking to try and do for myself. No hiding or running away from who I want to be. Just saying yes to the opportunities that come my way and in developing me.

Well written, funny, insightful and thought through. Definitely going to jump into more of her work.

It was certainly entertaining. I like Shonda's tone of voice. I feel like we had a really long conversation. Like we just met and got to know each other. I didn't give it more stars because I didn't really get anything out of it. I didn't feel inspired or like my life changed.

Love a good-self-help-aspirational book.

For some reason, Shonda Rhimes appears not just as a GR author but also as a brand and I'm not sure how to feel about that. I have to admit I didn't even know who Shonda Rhimes was... even though I guess I have dipped into some things she's made here and there (the only thing I can think of is How To Get Away With Murder, but maybe there's more).
Anyway, this book was FUN! It was made even more fun by it being read by the author, who gave it the right intonations at the right time. There are excerpts from her speeches at different events in the book, and in the audio version these are clips from the actual speeches, which adds to the experience.
I don't think there is anything too revolutionary in the book, but it feels very motivational and can reach some people at the right time in their lives for them to make a positive change. So that's good. It's also very funny.

Não é claramente o meu tipo de leitura, mas não posso dizer que seja mau. Acredito que para mta gente faça mais sentido do que para mim.
É ok, dentro do género.

“They tell you: Follow your dreams. Listen to your spirit. Change the world. Make your mark. Find your inner voice and make it sing. Embrace failure. Dream. Dream and dream big. As a matter of fact, dream and don’t stop dreaming until your dream comes true.
I think that’s crap.
I think a lot of people dream. And while they are busy dreaming, the really happy people, the really successful people, the really interesting, powerful, engaged people? Are busy doing.” Shonda Rimes

After challenging herself to say yes and step out of her comfort zone, she speaks on how it impacts every part of her life -for the best. Year Of Yes had many relatable moments. She was personal, and even if you aren’t seeking advice, many audiences should find ways to connect through her unique sections. The chapters cover taking care of your body, loving yourself by taking compliments, motherhood, diversity, marriage... I can go on. Lots of takeaways! It wasn’t perfect, but it had some highs.

So enjoyable on audio! I had not watched a Shonda show before (yes, never seen Gray's!), not for lack of interest, they just all came out during down TV times in my life. So I went in with little background on Shona. Well, now I feel like she's a friend after listening to her tell me her life stories as I drove, took walks, emptied the dishwasher in the early morning hours. And, I started watching Scandal, and am completely addicted. So thank you, Shonda, for existing, sharing, and being brave.

HIGHLY recommend this book. Very highly.
