Fairstein is a bit long winded about non important stuff, but a good read none the less.

So, first I didn't read this book and normally I wouldn't rant on this website for something like this, however, Linda Fairstein has since blocked her FB and Twitter because she can't take a little online bullying for the 5 lives of young innocent men that she destroyed with her racism and prejudice. How dare you make money of the pain and torture of young black men, no not even men, children!!!!! They were 5 children who needed help and this bitch used her hate to put them in jail.

I am livid, not that is not even the word to use to describe how I feel right now. To all my readers, you know how your heart starts beating fast during certain points of a book and you have no idea why, that 's how I feel right now. I feel like I want to explode.

To anyone who supports this blatant hate, please delete yourself from my page and to all my true friends on here, sorry about the rant not about books but I had to get this off my chest and like I stated earlier, she blocked all of her social media pages.

liked the characters and the storyline.
And liked learning about the work of the district attorney's office, and about law related to sexual assault.

The main plot line was pretty good, but the book was filled with annectodes about other random cases (in a lot of detail, which was uncomfortable at times), making it hard to stay focused on the plot and introducing too many characters to keep track of. I found myself skim reading a lot to finish.

found this at a secondhand book store for like $2 without knowing anything about the author. i only read the first 50 pages, but they were slow and hard to get through. stopped reading it anyway, but when i found out about the author i didn’t want to continue reading for sure.

Me giving a racist, vile and vindictive white woman 1 star reviews having never touched her books? My lil bit of good deeds into the universe.

Fairstein beats Reichs in my opinion.

I did not know of this author when I picked up the book for 25 cents at a library bookstore mystery sale. Having read it, I can say that my review of the book itself wasn’t super-enthusiastic regardless of who the author is. It was tinged with anti-semitism and read like a male author who didn’t know how to write women had penned it. Lots of character inconsistencies and mysteries that were solvable by the reader many chapters earlier than they were revealed. I had bought two by the author in case I liked the first one (25 cents each!) but I will not be reading the other.

A little dated, and I figured it out (mostly) very early in. But I'll keep reading - mostly because I love Barbara Rosenblat as a narrator.
