The trans rep in this GAVE ME LIFE! Considering this graphic novel is 20+ years old It made me happy to know that there have been authors advocating for their representation in books. Another fabulous addition to this story, less time worth Morpheus but it didn’t bother me much at all! 5/5

Even though these issues featured an ongoing story (not a fan of standalone issues), it was just alright. There’s something missing from this series that stops me from getting fully into it.

Mixed feelings. Quite uncomfortably gorey in parts. Also dealt with some touchy subjects in possibly problematic ways, although some of my earlier issues were alleviated a bit with a good final wrap up sequence.

I'm gonna be honest this has been my least favourite volume. Morpheus is barely in it and it feels more like bonus material than a main volume arc. After the serial killers, demons, ancient pantheons, and trips to Hell we previously took, this plot is lacklustre at best. Barbie is such a flat character, and I was uninterested in her dream world. Also, while I think it's fair to assume Gaiman had good intentions, his portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters read as quite cringe. I commend him for trying to be diverse, especially in the early 90s, but both Wanda's identity, and Foxglove/Hazel's relationship were laden in outdated stereotypes.

I still appreciate the art style, and it did wrap up nicely in the final issue, but overall this was a volume I would've rather skipped over.

I didn't really enjoy this book, there's just nothing very interesting about it. It's set in gritty old new york, and features Barbie from Barbie and Ken, and her dream world. The art style changes dramatically in part 3 and not in a good way. In part 4 it's changed to a midground between the previous art and the normal style. It's back to normal in the last two pieces.
