I was really disappointed in this book. At first, as an autistic women, I did find the beginning of the book highly relatable as the author shared her own personal experiences. But as the book went on, there were a number of things I didn't like about it.

1. The book/ author choose to specifically focus on "high functioning" women and seemed to uphold the idea of the Aspie supremacy in her use of functioning labels, categorizing of autistic people essentially by their perceived intelligence and/or the level of which they contribute to our Capitalist society.

2. There were a lot of assumptions made, including including assuming and ascribing diagnosis to historical figures.

3. It kind of droned on parts to the point where I works totally zone off and get lost in the audiobook.

I felt very validated by a lot of this and I liked the incorporation of fiction, to show how autism has been prevalent for hundreds of years. I also found the perspective of Sweden and Europe super interesting, especially with their approach to mental health and neurodiversity (i.e., very ableist). Unfortunately, this fell short of 5 stars because some paragraphs felt very random and disjointed and I wasn't sure how they connected or furthered the novel.
