Falling Petals is a play set in rural Australia, something strange is happening the small township of Hollow. An epidemic that only affects children has broken out and the town is quarantined. School and businesses are shut and kids are abandoned. Falling Petals follows three year 12 students unable to sit their final exams and unable to escape their small community.

This is my favourite play and has been since I read it at 17. I wouldn't recommend reading a play about an epidemic currently, especially due to the current emerging situation in Australia. This play is so easy to visualise, the characters are superb and would be awesome to play as they are extremely complex and would be a challenge. This play is satirical, dark and explores the impact of youth feeling like they are being set up for failure. This is one of the rare plays that I would actually love to direct (just not at the moment!)

A play about desperation and defiance. 5 stars
