The book is good. The story is good. The characters are awesome but the final section didn't had the action that i needed.

I was hooked from the first chapter. I’ve never read a book where almost all of the characters weren’t morally good in some way. Loved it.

Favorite Quote:
"The moments that define lives aren’t always obvious."

Why I Decided to Read This:
I read This Savage Song a few years ago, so when I saw that this one was on Kindle Unlimited, I immediately downloaded it to my kindle.

Plot:
The plot of this book was so interesting! We first find out that Victor is trying to get revenge on Eli, who used to be his friend. Basically, Victor just gets out of prison, and we go through chapters of him with Eli 10 years ago, and chapters leading up to an even at midnight. I honestly could not put this book down the last 25% of it.

Brief Thoughts:
This was such a good story! It's Sci-Fi with people with supernatural powers. I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did.

Characters:
The two main characters are Victor and Eli, who basically hate each other and want the other dead. Then you have the main side characters who help Victor and Eli throughout the book: Mitch, Sydney, and Serena.

Writing Style:
This was written in third person, and jumped between the past and present, all leading up to how the characters go to where they were and the event that unfolds at the end of the book.

Likes:
- The Plot: I actually really enjoyed the plot of this one and thought it was very well done. I literally could not put this down towards the end.
- The Characters: I loved how there wasn't really a "good guy" in this book. They both weren't good, but then I was still rooting for one of the characters over the other.

Dislikes:
- Nothing?: There wasn't really anything I disliked about this book. I thought it was very suspenseful and kept me wanting to read more. The beginning was a little slow, but it definitely picked up quickly.

Recommendation:
I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves Sci-Fi with extraordinary beings.

What’s in This Book & Trigger Warnings:

So I started it last year. And never finished it, and I even tried! Why? Because nothing happened, AT ALL. I don’t understand the hype, since it also didn’t feel like a character driven story (even though I usually like those).
I do like VE Schwab’s writing style, but this is a book I like to forget exist.

This also is one of the most boring books I’ve read, but if if fits the 2018 or 2019 list I’m not sure. But reading a book over the span of a year tells it own story.

Vicious is a dark academia story that tells the tale of two diabolical arch-enemies on the vengeful path to kill one another. This book was expertly written, haunting and thought-provoking. The characters were well crafted, and every single one had their own agendas and desires, which is why, no matter how twisted they were, they were believable. But whilst they were all thought-out and solid characters, I found that I really didn't like any of them. They had no redeeming qualities, no real quirks or things to like about them outside of their base desires and wants. But I suppose that was the whole point.

This was a good book, but it wasn't really my book per se. I consumed 70% of Viscious via audio which I found to actually be a chore more than anything (at no fault of the narrator, I just don't seem to enjoy listening to audiobooks) and thus it took me a long while to get into the story. Additionally, I'm usually not a fan of dark academia books, as I found they're pretentious for the sake of being pretentious. This story wasn't too over the top in this regard, but I found the beginning really relied on setting up that vibe which my tastes just don't really care for.

I believe this is a trilogy, which I would consider continuing for sure. Overall, this was a 3-star read for me.

I love the changing perspectives and the short chapters and the... everything. Except Eli, he can rot in prison.
