read in french, will be reviewed in french.

I did like this whole 3 volume series except for this (which others have pointed out)
Spoiler Sanada-a gay 11 grade HS student dated Hide-a now 26yr old who is much too interested in the lives of these HS kids & in a later volume has the 3 HS boys spend the night at his apartment which seems inappropriate & makes me wonder why he's not spending time with guys his own age. Nothing happens but still--it's a wee bit uncomfortable.

This is truly an enjoyable manga but -1 star for the 26 year old boyfriend. Like if he were like... 18-19 it would be better. I hope he shows up less in future volumes.

This is such a cute book, I would definitely recommend it if you want a good coming of age story with lgbt themes.

This was a fun volume. I enjoyed my time reading it and want to continue with the series. However I don’t feel super attached to the characters and there are some parts that make me a little iff which I’ll recount in the spoiler section.

SpoilerSo…he has a 26 year old ex? That’s a joke riiight? Why couldn’t they have made him 20? It’s all still weird cause he’s in high school and at most 17/18. But 26! Maybe it’s a mistranslation although that’s a fat chance. I’ll still read, but maybe it’ll be addressed and hopefully not made worse.

As I said I don’t particularly feel for the characters too much. The love interest is moody and hard to get a feel for his personality. We don’t really get anything concrete from him in the end. He’s aloof, and acts that way as protection, but we don’t quite get to know him at all. Also his friend (who’s a girl but not girlfriend) is constantly smiling at him when hes not looking. Like at first it’s sweet cause she cares about him, and then I figure she ships them, and then I think maybe she has a crush, first on the new kid, then on her friend, and now it’s just creepy. It almost felt like breaking the third wall when they’d show her. Like she was involved, knows something more than we do, but she only every has an expression I can’t suss out.

This manga tells the story of a transfer student, Noshiro. Noshiro is used to moving to new places and new schools, making new friends, and fitting in, so he notices immediately when one of his new classmates, Sanada, is always by himself. In his attempts to bring Sanada back into the fold, Noshiro learns that there is a rumor that Sanada is gay (and it's true)! What follows is the trials and tribulations of Noshiro trying to be Sanada's friend.

Ok, this was adorable, and--I use this phrase a lot--it was full of heart! They didn't go the cliched route of straight to romance (but I'm sure that's the end game). It was focused on friendship, and I don't think there are enough stories like this. And the cliche dodges!! When a rumor starts about the two having sex, instead of having the straight/currently identifying as straight guy deny it in shock/outrage, Noshiro just spits the truth, basically saying, "Why should I care about rumors I know aren't true, especially ones that clearly wouldn't remotely be true. We aren't even good friends yet, so why would anyone even think we were doing it?" Noshiro is literally such a breath of fresh air, kind, determined, logical, and ready to ask for help when he needs it. It's easy to understand why people think he's cute. What a good kid!

I'm not a fan of the 26-year-old guy being an ex to a high schooler (I'm okay with him being a mentor though, so I'm just like WHY EVEN MAKE HIM AN EX???). I know the norms are a bit different in Japan (perhaps especially in the LGBTQIA+ community there), but it's still something that does bother me, which sucks because the character seems to be a good guy.

That's really my only major criticism though.

5☆ Highly recommended
Trigger warning: Mentions of a relationship between a teen (15?) and adult (26)
