The second in the Diogenes trilogy and 6th book overall. I enjoyed this one a lot more than Brimstone and found the character of Diogenes to be a truly chilling villain and foil to our favorite FBI agent, Pendergast. I'm re-reading this series and while I recall not loving these earlier novels last time, I'm finding that this time around I really enjoyed this trilogy within the bigger story and found myself connecting to all of the characters in their own way. I originally didn't like Constance but am coming to understand and connect with her character more this time around.

I am not sure how at book 6 in the series they are all so good! Pendergast is a fascinating character to be sure, but this one with his brother as the foil is just so perfect! Loved this story from beginning to end!

Agent Pendergast, with the assistance of Lieutenant D’Agosta, must confront the most diabolical criminal of his career – his brother Diogenes. Good addition to the series, but I hate that it left you hanging for the next book.

Struggled to finish the end of this book. It’s an in between read to the next book. Really craving another monster of the week feel story with a spooky creature to solve rather than an annoyingly overpowered brother.

This is my favorite Pendergast novel yet. Just fantastic. On to the next one!
