I got this Gritlit after attending a Kai Cheng Thom event. She signed it to me and I have already given it away to Atia and Takina. We read it all together on the back porch of the ugly duckling. It was such a wonderful experience.

Lovely picture book for children trying to figure out their identity and how they present themselves. My kids loved it.

Charming but it was weird that there was no capitalization in the text. Also, I wish there was little more to the messaging than “the other kids were jealous”.

Beautiful watercolor illustrations and hopeful story. I appreciate that their mother doesn't have the answers, but I wonder if the fairytale ending may not ring true.
