I love everything about this book!  It's a story about two very different Asian American girls who become unlikely friends.  Moon is lively and fun—she listens to loud music and lives with her Buddhist vegetarian single mom—while Christine is more quiet and rule-abiding, playing violin and attending weekly Chinese classes.  The girls bond through K-pop and nail polish, but Moon struggles to cope with her anger and differences while Christine becomes jealous of Moon's free personality.  When a special part of Moon becomes problematic, Christine worries that she'll never be the same, but all will be well in the end.  With mixed-case text and realistic, relatable scenarios, Stargazing is a magical book for every kid!
