Two perfect, adorable and dorky stories Christmas Eve! (Kindred Spirits was a reread)
Also can we talk about how beautiful this book is from the outside ? Glitter !!

I was hesitant to pick up another book by Rowell as I did not enjoy [b:Fangirl|17380203|Fangirl|Rainbow Rowell|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1401739086s/17380203.jpg|21861351] at all, but I'm glad I tried again! These two short stories are sweet and immersive, and I loved both. (Kindred Spirits was relatable as well - I loved that it was about Star Wars and how to love something without being attacked as a "fake nerd" especially as a woman.)

Who says cute romance is dead??? This was sooo refreshing and adorable to read, I loved the accompanying illustrations – though they were black and white, the characters had so much style and life to them! The conversations were also lively and had lots of character, especially between Mags and Noel. I thought the second story about queueing in line to watch Star Wars was very interesting, I never quite understood the need to queue (especially when no one is queueing!) but I see now it's all part of the dedicated fan experience (and bragging rights, of course.. hahaha).

I started really liking [a:Rainbow Rowell|4208569|Rainbow Rowell|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1342324527p2/4208569.jpg]'s writing style after [b:Fangirl|16068905|Fangirl|Rainbow Rowell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1355886270l/16068905._SX50_.jpg|21861351] and the Simon Snow series, although I hadn't enjoyed [b:Eleanor & Park|15745753|Eleanor & Park|Rainbow Rowell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1341952742l/15745753._SX50_.jpg|17225055] nor [b:Attachments|8909152|Attachments|Rainbow Rowell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1499377988l/8909152._SY75_.jpg|13785503]. And this didn't disappoint! Quirky characters with LOTS of personality.

In our new era where it's so hard to sustain a novel's length of work with draggy scenes, these two stories were a perfect 10-15 minutes squeeze-in when you're commuting or waiting for a bus or queueing.

Two super cute short stories - I’d actually read Kindred Spirits before, and it was so nice to go back to. It’s definitely aligned to fangirl by being another homage to fan culture and I like that whole it’s about people queuing to see Star Wars, it’s more about relationships and the people.

The first story is also super cute - I definitely was wondering what was up with Mags throughout in terms of not making her move! But I love that we only got specific snap shots of their life and yet it still works.

And the art work for the book edition is a lovely addition 💙💙
