Brian's Return by Gary Paulsen

Brian returns to the wilderness! It was a lot less about surviving in the wild and more of living it and the frame of mind Brian has and his inability to live in the city anymore. The ending seemed a bit abrupt to me, but most of that was because it didn't feel like a lot happened in this book. He left the city to go back to the woods for a while and... is at peace with it, basically. I feel like I wanted more from this book than is to be expected.

I think I liked the idea of this more than the execution. I really liked seeing how Brian was struggling with being in civilization again and it was interesting to see him prepare for the trip and how he's changed since that first experience. Also liked the river travel this time and the experiences Brian had exploring this way.

The thing I've noticed with Gary Paulsen's writing though is that he'll spend the entire book leading up to the big event then the final chapter is that event but like really skimmed over.
