From strongwilled Katniss who was amazing to follow being an ace with her survival and hunting skills, to sweet Peeta the OG Lover Boy with immaculate rizz and tenderness and melancholy, the two were some great main characters! Peeta´s pining and hopelessness from his unrequited love and his odds at beating the Game and Katniss´s confusion on if he´s actually in love AND her feelings not just for him but for Gale and how she doesn´t really know who she is and what to do it.was.immaculate.
the fast paced writing that didn´t waste time getting me hooked in the story; with fun action and interesting world building and the absolutely horrendous Capitol and it´s people that mirror the human morbidness,
my only concrete gripes are that sometimes the world building didn´t reach the level of grandiose that i thoguht this would have; although it could be explored in the other two books who knows. and the lack of gore lmao, i honestly thought it was gonna be more brutal. but these are such random nitpicks i can´t possibly give this book less than 4.5 stars.
i can already tell this trilogy will be a great story about the abuse of power, fascism, brutality, the consequences it brings to those unfortunate to not be in that immediate circle of power and how sometimes those same struggles can bring lasting change.
