Probably one of the few dystopian YA books that still are just as good as when it was first released. It is not pretentious with its themes, nor does it dumb it down for its initial target audience, and the characters have depth and charm unlike most YA characters from this era, mainly Katniss and Peeta.

Great book, been re-reading it almost every year for the past 10 years. Recommend it for older teens (14+) and young adults.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
So much better than the movie.
I loved the insight to Katniss’ thoughts and feelings throughout the games. Katniss is such a strong female lead character, that I love with all my heart. Every chapter was left on a cliff hanger making me want to read on. This was a great read and I can’t wait to read the others.

This is the third time that I read this book. The first two times were when it was released and now, ten(-ish) years later. I felt exactly the same and that was my favorite part about rereading this story.

Katniss is an amazing main character: a very strong female role model, selfless, sensitive... even her naiveness is very relatable. She was forced to grow fast and had a very hard life - losing her father and with a mother destroyed by grief she was the only one who could provide for her sister and from that point on Prim is the only reason why she wants to live.

I love this book because shows that love can be the force that changes lives, even in the most complete chaos and brutality the ones we love can make a difference between giving up and fight a little longer.

I first read this back in High School over 10 years ago and absolutely devoured the first two books in the series. Well, I did the same for this one as well.

The pacing is perfect, and the world building is very interesting and engaging. The characters do tend to fall a little flat, Katniss is somewhat one dimensional at this point in the series, and I found Peeta annoying more than anything.

Despite its flaws, I still read the entire thing in a day because I was enjoying myself too much to put it down. There's not much more to say in the review-- its the Hunger Games, everyone knows what this series is.
