I have read a couple of other books in this author's series, but it was nice to read the first one! Wonderful characters, great locations, and always a bit of history thrown in too.

Linda Fairstein mined her own experience as a top prosecutor in New York’s Sex Crimes Unit for this debut thriller, starring NYC prosecutor Alexandra Cooper. The book opens with Alex reading her own obituary – a case of mistaken identity when she loaned her vacation home to a Hollywood star.

This is definitely what I look for in this genre. It’s a fast-paced mystery with plenty of suspects, interesting plot twists, a likeable main character, and some complicated relationships. I was kept guessing right along with Alex and the detectives. In the meantime, I became invested in Alex’s personal life and public work. She’s a complex woman, and I like that she doesn’t wait around to be rescued but figures out a way out of her own dilemmas.

I definitely want to read more of this series.

First book in the Alex Cooper series set in NYC. Alex is a lawyer who handles sex crime cases. When a woman is killed heading to Alex's house, everybody at first assumes it's Alex. Quickly they discover it's a famous actress and friend of Alex who was using the house for a bit. Was the target really Alex or did someone intend to kill the actress. All in all a solid first novel and I look forward to seeing how the characters develop.

This despicable being helped put five innocent children in jail. While they suffered, she was writing books and getting rich and famous. She should be held accountable

When looking for novels set in New York City (preparing for our trip there), I discovered this writer--a former sex crimes prosecutor who writes books about the sex crimes unit in NYC. This is the precursor to "Law & Order: SVU" and her first novel. I will read more.

Fairstein is a bit long winded about non important stuff, but a good read none the less.

So, first I didn't read this book and normally I wouldn't rant on this website for something like this, however, Linda Fairstein has since blocked her FB and Twitter because she can't take a little online bullying for the 5 lives of young innocent men that she destroyed with her racism and prejudice. How dare you make money of the pain and torture of young black men, no not even men, children!!!!! They were 5 children who needed help and this bitch used her hate to put them in jail.

I am livid, not that is not even the word to use to describe how I feel right now. To all my readers, you know how your heart starts beating fast during certain points of a book and you have no idea why, that 's how I feel right now. I feel like I want to explode.

To anyone who supports this blatant hate, please delete yourself from my page and to all my true friends on here, sorry about the rant not about books but I had to get this off my chest and like I stated earlier, she blocked all of her social media pages.
