Tried 3 times to get into this, and it just didn’t work for me. I’m not sure if it was a problem with the pacing or if I just couldn’t connect with the story, but it just didn’t click with me.

As you are reading, you will say to yourself, “Please, not that twist.” But it is that twist. And that takes this book from 3 or 3.5 stars to 2 stars.

Good grief! It’s so predictable and so played out.

You’re waiting for that delicious bag of microwave popcorn, but you burned it, and now the kitchen just stinks.

I DNFd this book 2 times, both in the first few chapters.
I just couldn't stand the narration style and the situatio  seemed really fake to me

I don't know what to say, this got really messy... Most of the book is a monologue of the protagonist, Daffodil goes to work for the summer at a house in a small town and she's alone there, there is not much dialogue other than with some neighbors and workers in the area.

First, I didn't like the protagonist very much. I was interested in her being a socially anxious teenager, but the book went to great lengths to portray her as the weirdo and didn't put that quality to good use. But Daffodil was smart, and that was good, more in a horror book where a bad decision can end in a curse. Second, to be a thriller, the truth is that it didn't impact me much on that side. But I do remember a time when I got scared and it was when Daffodil believed she had killed the lady with the kitchen knife, that woman went crazy out of nowhere. And Mike was creepy, he was a character with the potential to scare but I was missing more.

The ending isn't the great plot twist it promises to be, and I didn't give it much thought. The truth is that the cover hooked me, that's why I read it without knowing much but the good thing is that it was a quick read.

Predictable, but still decent for a short book. Need to remember a character's problematic thinking is just the character ("im not like other girls" tones)
