It started out as a 5 star read; but halfway through the book I got tired of the recycled jokes (there is only so many times I can read about dying bards without sighing) and the lack of consequences for the characters ( losing a limb is not a problem: you can literally grow a new hand. And don’t you worry about getting an INCURABLE deadly disease: you will stumble upon a cure accidentally ).
“Kings of the Wyld” is something of a fantasy equivalent to Becky Chambers’ Wayfarer series: everyone is a friend, nothing truly bad happens, and you can be sure there is a happy ending waiting.
P.S. “Clay let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding.”
