Everytime I thought: Now they have seen and gone through all.
And I read on, comes MORE.
And suprisingly it works very well. There never is too much.

I absolutly adored this read through and the concept itself. A complete different approach to a world like this!

Favourite characters: Moog, Clay, Fender

Clay Cooper didn't do helmets, and that was that.

But life, Clay knew, didn't work that way. It wasn't a circle; you didn't go around and round again. It was an arc, its course as inexorable as the sun's trek across the sky, destined at its highest, brightest moment to begin its fall.

He addressed the other, pointing at the wall. "Make a door here, please."
Saying please to a golem, Cooper? Wouldn't Ginny be proud ...

He came out sideways, unsure of when he'd begun screaming at the top of his lungs. (...) before he inadvertently performed whatt could aptly be described as a flying drop-kick to the poor man's face.

A superb, down to earth version of a mercenary band, meeting up twenty years after originally disbanding to save the world once more (by accident).

A proper hoot and a half. The writing is solid and somehow finds a great balance between maintaining tangible stakes and not taking itself seriously. Eames has played a lot of D&D because the vibes here are exactly that—chaotic, heartfelt, and bursting with a bravado that’s only sometimes earned but is always entertaining. It didn’t rock my world, and the pacing is too meandering for its own good, despite feeling authentic to the kind of adventure it is. The momentum never stalls, though—things move too fast for that to happen, which is a good thing. But the narrative does suffer slightly since the drama rarely has the time it needs to properly crystallize. But yeah, I had a great time and will pick up the sequel because this is the platonic ideal of a fantasy world. 

Also, I picked this up to fill the Baldur’s Gate 3 hole in my life, and it rose to the occasion! So, if anyone else is feeling similarly, this might help.

Funny for a couple hundred pages, but the jokes just repeat and the flaws get more noticeable as it goes on. The female characters lack and depth and the run of duck jokes and fat jokes just goes on and on.

One of the most uniquely enjoyable experiences I’ve had in fantasy in a long time. Eames doesn’t try to be overly clever; the tropes and archetypes that populate this book are laid out front and center. The characters are all lovely in their own way, and legitimately hilarious. Longtime readers of fantasy should enjoy everything in here. 8.5/10.

I fully went into this expecting it to be about Manly Men hating their wives- I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised with what I got.
