this was just amazing. i typically stay away from poetry but i absolutely love jordan’s writing style and the subject matter it covers. her work explores blackness, queerness, and woman hood in such a profound way. just so so beautiful

Some of the most beautiful poems I’ve ever read are in this anthology. Jordan’s style is so unique and captivating. It made me emotional, the introduction was also very interesting to read.

3 3/4 Stars. Sensual. Provocative. Thoughtful. Ranging from deeply personal--sometimes to the exclusion of the reader--to deeply communal. Linguistically diverse in both good and bad ways. Occasionally convoluted and unclear. These are poems I will have to read several more times to begin to get.
