Aside from a few things I personally didn't enjoy about the dialogue, this was a fun, steamy read with the usual level of antics, drama and romance I've come to expect from the Devil's Rock Series.

I ate the book up, reading it in just a few hours and enjoyed seeing the return of some of the previous characters in the series.

The fourth book in the Devil’s Rock series involves Piper Walsh and Hale Walters and at first glance, it looks like a case of opposite attracts.

Piper is stuck in a town where everyone seemed to judge her by her family’s last name which is leading her to live a hard life, but she does it for her sister Malia. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind though and no one would think of her as a fragile girl. She gives as much as she gets especially around Hale who seems to know how to push her buttons anytime they meet. When the fear of losing the guardianship of her sister if she can’t provide for her, she takes on a job that she never anticipated she would ever do which put the story of the book in motion and bringing her more and more often in the presence of Hale which she can’t help but argue with.

Hale is the definition of the righteous man; always going by the law. The town seems to worship him because of his upbringing and how he followed his father’s footsteps. He’s living the opposite life of Piper and he tends to judge her like the rest of the town. But while Hale steers clear of any relationship of any kind, he is drawn to Piper and he can’t get her out of his head. He is determined to understand her even if she isn’t making the job easy.

Piper and Hale are both outspoken people and whenever they interact; neither of them wants to step down. Neither of them is afraid of confrontation which often leads them into situation that gets out of hand, but you can’t deny the attraction between the two of them which makes this relationship even more explosive.

Throughout this book, these two will learn that there always something deeper to someone’s personality than their first impression. The expression “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies perfectly not only to this book but to the whole series.

I could tell you more, but I’m trying not to spoil anything. Let’s just say you will be hooked from the first chapter.

All in all, this book was probably my favourite in this series. As much as I loved the others, this one just got me hooked on the people because they made this book so interesting.

I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I loved Piper instantly when we met her in Fury on Fire! Hale, damn, he was such a sanctimonious prick. Their meet-cute was in Fury on Fire and it was definitely an explosive one and certainly not instant love. Instant, reluctant lust? YES.

Piper is the "bad girl" from the bad part of town and Hale is the golden boy Sherrif, what could they have in common? Their need to protect for one. Piper is such an admirable woman! She's raising her sister Malia the best that she can and taking the towns crap and letting it roll off her back is hard but she does it so she can visit her older brother Cruz in prison.

Hale, sigh, once he realized Piper's real situation, he manned up and became the hero I know he could be.

BUT I LOVED PIPER!! She made the book :) Thanks Sophie for giving us a strong, kick-ass heroine!

So, this one is about Piper - a young woman from a family of criminals, jailed or dead ones. Everyone in their small town thinks she's trash like the rest of the Walsh-clan, which makes caring for her younger sister very hard, since no one except the slimy strip club-manager wants to hire her. The last thing she needs is getting involved with the town's sexiest lawman, Hale. Hale, who is golden-boy turned sheriff, who also judges her by her blood. If only she didn't get his blood boiling.

This book is mostly centered around Piper and Hale and mostly Piper's struggles trying to care for her sister. She's a tough one and rolls with the punches. It hurt seeing how she had to play the dumb girl to get people to back off, but I cheered when she sassed back. Hale is kind of an asshole at first - judging people by their families background is just plain wrong and douchy. But, it does happen, unfortunately.

I did love the way Hale and Piper just... fit. They just came together and even though it was a bit of a struggle at times, their lives just went together like bread and butter. The whole background story with her brother and the crime he was incarcerated for was a good way to move the story forward and prepare for the next installment.

I liked the novel, but I think it could have had a bit more tension about Piper's concerns & back story. It seemed rushed at the end. The chemistry between the H & h was hot, and of course Christian Fox's narration is sublime!
