This book has an underlying plot that was interesting to begin with but ended up going in way too many directions. I finished it because I wanted to see how it would end, but was sorely disappointed. The language is terrible and the storyline is riddled with way too much teen-aged angst. The writing is horrible. I will not read the next one.

Secrets and Shadows answers a lot of questions, but gives you twice as many to think about. New characters, and new dilemnas. Mix all of that in with a few surprising twists at the end, and hope the next book is just as good. Pietr has the same twisted views as Edward, almost too close, but just different enough. Jessica takes the lead for stupid female love interest over Bella, and while there are a lot of bad guys we haven't seen them at their worst yet. Derek is obviously not a good guy, several people have commented on his sudden interest in Jessica. How can the most popular jock be interested in Jessica, the school newspaper editor? It seems she has the same qualities Bella had when it comes to making all the guys fall for the unpopular girl with issues. I am sort of making fun of the book, but it is still good, and worth the read.

let me start by saying I hate cliff hangers
Now that said despite the HUGE cliff hanger at the end of this book I love this series. The characters are amazing and ever evolving. I cant wait to start the next book to see what is in store for Jessi.

This was a sensational sequel to the amazing 13 to Life. I fell in love with Jess and Pietr all over again.
It was the perfect mix of heart break, love, loss and absolute shock. Pietr keeps pulling away from Jess more and more, and while i tried to reason that he was trying to protect her, i just think he didn't have to be so mean about it.
Things are even stranger in this book, and Jess finds her life has not only been turned upside down, but inside out as well, with all she's ever known coming crashing down with shocking revelations and unexpected plot twists.
Sofia isn't quite normal.
Amy is mixed up with the werewolves more than Jess could have imagined.
Derek is not what he seems. At all. He's so... oh don't even get me started! I absolutely DESPISE him, especially after this book (you'll have to read and find out why (: though)
And Sarah is a psycho! Seriously, Pietr never loved you! Get OVER it!

Jess and Pietr's relationship is devastating. Sad and beautiful. Pietr is running out of time, and though it kills her, Jess loves him too much to let him go.
My heart broke each time they realised how little time was left, but i loved how they kept saying that they should "live life fiercely"
I found myself laughing out loud at several moments in it, and also caught myself grinning half the time i read.
I was enchanted by these books and cannot wait to read the next one, i seriously suggest you read these, Pietr is just, well delicious, I've decided Jess can't have him because i want him :D
though Max seems pretty gorgeous too...
