This book is from the 19th century? Well, I knew that but it was awesome! Really, awesome!

Made me wonder just what is down there in the deepest of the darkness. The book was extraordinary and always will be to me - the focal point being how the tale is told through ottos grandson. It’s rapturous narration embodies the young grandsons mind on the world of discovery with influence from the professor. Unflinching scientifically spellbinding adventure - even at times bewildering. The ending just made me ... wonder.(at the twists and turns the book has) A classic.

I see why it was a fundamentel piece of science fiction, but it was clearly written over 150 years ago. The writing style hampered the enjoyment of what would be an interesting story.

Lots of excitement but I skimmed over lots of scientific info about geology, etc. which would have really bored me. So deducting 1 star for that.

3.3/5 stars. This book was read in the spirit of wanting to explore books I wouldn't normally gravitate towards. It did not disappoint, but it imbued me with a deeper sense of understanding as to why I don't naturally read science-fiction. I find difficulty in getting lost in the worlds painted by sci-fi authors, a quality I hope to change
