This is my second time reading Chain of Gold, and this second time round I loved it as much as the first time! The Infernal Devices characters hold a special place in my heart, especially Jem Carstairs, so I loved James and Lucie Herondale, Cordelia Carstairs and the others just as much! The plot itself was interesting and a page-turner. The writing, as always, is immaculate. I also loved seeing Tessa, Will and Jem and the rest of the cast of the Infernal Devices. I loved seeing them settled down with their families, and (at least for the beginning of the book) I loved seeing them happy.

One thing I did not like, though, is the lack of focus on Lucie. It felt like her only personality traits were being a writer and being able to see Jesse Blackthorn. I do hope that she gets more 'screentime' in Chain of Iron.

No matter how many of Cassie Clare's books I read, I become completely engrossed with the world and the new characters each time. I loved this book, just not as much as I was expecting. Each character was unique and had so much to offer the story. I found myself really invested and rooting for all of them over the course of the story! Overall though, I felt that this book was a really good starting point for this story. Now that all the characters have been introduced I want to see more of the dynamics between certain pairs! The only reason this was not quite a 5-star review for me is that I was craving more drama or plot that we didn't quite get in this book, but I know that we will in the next one!
