Honestly, may take me a few days to figure out how I feel about this book/the ending or even know how to rate it..... But I'll probably come back at some point to update this rating and review.

This book tore me apart. I found myself audibly yelling at the characters as if I could change their minds. I threw the device I was reading on multiple times because I could not bear to continue on.  It hurt me in ways I cannot begin to understand and I will not be the same again for a long time. I don’t know if a book has ever made me feel so much, or ever will again. At the end, I found myself unable to stop crying and get over it. I grieved over every loss as if I truly knew the character because the incredible writing made me feel like I did. I also had moments of pure joy where I could not stop smiling and laughing. I cannot begin to express my emotions and grief. I will mourn these characters forever. My only critique is that sometimes the changing perspectives confused me, but other than that it was perfect. I was shocked multiple times and could not begin to wrap my head around the surprises. If you are looking for your heart to be filled, then ripped out then I beg you to pick up this book and don’t stop reading till it’s over. I am overwhelmed with emotion and I know you will be too.

What a disappointment. Again...

I wanted to read Allegiant to give Veronica Roth one last chance to redeem herself after Insurgent underwhelmed me. I enjoyed Divergent, so what happened, and how did she come to this point? I picked it up and glanced at the blurb, making it seem intriguing, but when I closed the final page, I didn't enjoy it.

It starts (more like finishes) with Tris still living in Chicago in the aftermath of the events that happened in Insurgent when she discovers something extraordinary. She comes across information that the world is not what she thinks it is. It's no longer a place divided by the Divergent, those with multiple traits, and the five factions without, like the Dauntless, instead, the Divergent are better off since the government considers them genetically pure while the faction members are genetically damaged. Really? That does not sound like genetics and more like a personality issue, which didn't improve the worldbuilding and instead made the narrative do a 180. The characters are hard to relate since they lack character development, the plot is not engaging enough and the pacing is slow in the first 450 pages due to the filler ones. Roth could've removed those to make Allegiant more engaging and ensure every page counts. Roth sends a message through Allegiant's implicit theme that having many traits is beneficial but other issues didn't make it clear and that was in the background. The conclusion is faster paced as another battle occurs, but Tris sacrifices herself in the middle of all that, but what for? I don't get it. That peters out Allegiant.

I actually think this broke me. There’s literally nothing else to say. This whole trilogy has been amazing and I’ve never loved a series more and now that it’s over I don’t really know what to do with myself. That’s really dramatic but it’s true. Every character is so carefully thought out and the plot is so layered but written so well that I was never confused and spent every moment just in awe of the world Veronica Roth created. I would recommend this to anyone, but bring tissues!

Another overall great book in this series
that ending though, oh, it's a heartbreaker. 🥺 Once I arrived at the end I certainly wasn't expecting Tris to be killed off. Reading the last chapter I kept thinking something would happen where tris comes back to life. Even after finishing it, Tris's death hadn't really sunk in. I feel so sad about Tobias and Tris's relationship, after all they've gone through they were finally looking toward a future together. After reading the end I realized why the author put both Tobias and Tris as the narrators, as Tobias was going to be one of the last standing.
To begin with I found it difficult to wrap my head around both Tris and Four being the narrator's as the other 2 books in this series are only narrated by Tris. It did end being quite a good aspect to this book though, just like the other four follow up books all about the character four.
