Interesting end to the series. It’s been a while since I had read the others, but I didn’t really have to play catch up.
Not really much opinion one way or the other. It was good but not spectacular. The story progression was fine but nothing too drastic. A lot of my opinion probably comes down to having seen the movies more so than reading the book. It was pretty much what I had expected.

I know reasonably that this book isn’t five stars, but the way it has made me absolutely sob is so incredibly indicative of how good this book, and series as a whole, really is. I highly encourage any and everyone to read.

I was kind of dreading this reread because I remember really not being a fan of this book but, nevertheless I still wanted to reread it, and it turns out, I was right. Not a fan.

I won’t go into the plot because massive spoilers but what I’ve said about the previous books still stand. Tris and Tobias are very annoying and honestly aren’t a great couple unfortunately. It feels like they are constantly arguing.

The side characters tend to be really forgettable, almost like an afterthought to bulk out the story. The writing and the storyline is very basic and it definitely feels like younger readers would enjoy it more than older ones.

The ending just feels unnecessary. I won’t go into detail because of the major spoiler, but I imagine most people know what I’m talking about. It felt like it was purely done for the shock value, and not because it actually made the story better.

Overall, this is probably the worst book in the series, in my opinion but I’ve enjoyed rereading the series.
