Yeah I didn’t love this one for Matt alone. He was annoying and overbearing in the worst way. He had a sad backstory I guess, but the way he spoke to the main character, Briar, was a no for me. He just gave the ick so quick with the way he thinks and speaks which sucks cause I did enjoy the other two guys, Kenta and Glen.
I mean the scenes were written fine I just couldn’t get over my dislike for Matt.

Crying score: I would cry if a men ever spoke to me the way Matt did out of pure anger.

Spice Rating: 4🌶

Overall, I thought this was pretty well done. Things I often notice is inconsistent tones in romance books. You can’t have the most fluffiest romcom with a sudden murder in the last 50 pages. But this was very consistent. That tense, uncomfortable feeling was there from beginning to end. I feel like the MMCs didn’t get even attention, one for sure got the most interest from the author.
Matt treated Briar like a total child. I understand trauma is a bitch but that doesn’t give him the right to be such an asshole to her throughout the book. I’m happy that she was able to throw all the shit he did back in his face. Kenta seemed to be the only one really looking out for her. Glen was fine, but Matt was the worst. I would’ve given this a much higher score if he wasn’t so…dickish
Also I would like to add that there’s a lot of diet culture/restrictive eating talk and it’s not totally addressed.
