Savage Lover 2.5⭐️ 3.25🌶️

Mafia Dark Romance
Dual POV
Heist
Cars
Friends to lovers

Same scene from 2 POV’s. I forgot how much I hate that. It makes the plot feel stagnant.

These main characters were actually more likable than the books before. With the FMC going through so much, it was interesting to see her character arc.

A lot was going on. The heist. Older kids partying at the same place as high schoolers who were underage drinking. A cop trying to look good. A mystery parent. A missing parent. Middle child syndrome. A parent with lung cancer. A car race. A drug bust. Drug dealers. Police chases…. And it was a fairly short book.

“Nero is proof of the perversity of the universe. Never has such a dangerous object been disguised in such an appealing wrapper. He’s like a berry so vivid and juicy that it makes your mouth water just looking at it. But one taste will poison you.

He’s liquid sex in a James Dean frame. Everything about him, from his fog-gray eyes to his pouty lips to his arrogant swagger is calculated to make your heart freeze up in your chest, and then jolt back to life if he so much as glances at you.”

Not as good as the first two books but still liked it. Loved the story/premise but it felt rushed or tidied up somehow. Would have like to have seen Camille and Nero's relationship grow instead of jumping in as it did.

I didn’t expect to love Nero so much. He’s someone that you’d want on your side. His relationship with Camille was so beautiful to see. This book was a slow burn compared to the others but the tension was definitely there!

⭐️4 This one is my favourite in the series so far. I think both the plot and the romance were done right. There is no third act break up. Cam admitted that she felt jealous and hurt but did not go crazy and acted all irrational when she saw Nero with Bella while knowing Nero was there for something else. I like how they did not turn out screaming, yelling and blaming the other for not being an open book. When Cam confessed about being forced into a dealer for Levi and threatened to be a CI for Schultz, Nero was pissed about Can being forced into undesirable situations and all he did was to figure out ways to solve those problems instead of initiating a fight with Cam.

P.S. At first I thought both Schultz and his dad were dirty cops... but it was not like that at all. The younger Schultz was definitely not a perfect clean cop but standing in the gray zone works better if he wanted to move up the ladder and survive in Chicago PD to not follow his father's steps.

P.S.S. The bank robbery scene was done so well I felt like I was watching a James Bond movie.
