what an intro to mafia romance!

I’m a person who loves a series and being able to read a whole series was really great-
Many of the themes were new, and it felt like I needed to wrap my head around where each book was in time as they happened out of order from the way the book was put together… but how cool.
Loved the Petrovs and the ways there truly were HEAs for all of the characters.
Reader be warned- lots of on-page violence and a fair amount of suspense. But also a good bit of spice and romance! Loved the mystery threads too.

1. Ivan: 5/5
I loved those two. Sloane is fierce and witty - honestly, i am not the greatest fan of the blurbs of some of the books. this one made it seem as if ivan tortured sloane for weeks and broke her spirit (i would have hated that) - not that  she impressed him from the very first moment. he was confused and horny and kinda imprisoned her the first days because she DID come close to murdering him and he didnt know what else to do with her. I love how effortlessly they merged into a team. Definitely would recommend.

2. Snow: 5/5
Snow is both a brutal boxer and a gentleman and i love him. It was interesting seeing the mafia from the lower ranks for once. snow has a moral code and he sticks to it. personally i prefer when the heroines are not sexually innocent, but it was okay. sasha started out as very sheltered, but i did like about her that she always did what had to be done, no matter what.

3. Roman: 2/5
Didn't feel them. I don't like bullies, and i didnt like romans constant need to dominate mila as if he hadnt put her through enough already. oh, i made your youth hell? youre sexy now, and my solution is to continue making your life hell and also fantasizing about owning you because i cant communicate my feelings. yikes.

4. Dom: 5/5
again, i think the blurb is very misleading. it seemed so dark i nearly didnt read it, because i dont like the innocent/obsessive pairing that much. yes, lara gets abducted, but more by coincidence, and they let her go literally an hour later. the rest is them just falling in love very beautifully. he takes her to art classes! i swooned. gosh it was so damn cute. yes, of course theres more secrets and dark pasts, but dom and lara are beautiful and one of my favorite pairs.

5. Anton: 3/5
It was sweet. Anton and Violet fit together. I would have liked to see more of the business, of her learning russian, of her playing music with her father, of learning family connections - but it was okay. i actually really liked her father.

6. Nikolai: 3/5
as so often, most of the conflict could have been avoided by one single honest conversation. but apart from that, nikolai did plan and execute the most beautiful and romantic dates. i wish someone would row me across a pond for hours while talking about literature. the ending felt abrupt, i was missing a chapter or an epilogue here.

7. Luca: 4/5
a heist story with less bloodshed than the usual underground books, because the main characters are thieves, not mafia. i love easygoing luca.

8. Black: 4/5
a detective story with a sweetheart romance on the side. i liked it, but it just didnt had a hold on me like the other stories.

Conclusion: i came from the birthright series (which i loved) to continue my mafia romance streak and stubbornly stayed to finish it. ivan and snow were definitely my favorites. luca and black were okay, but i think i would have enjoyed it more if i hadnt connected them mentally to the other books - i came for mafia, after all, and those two books were other genres woven into the same world.

Colors of Crime shows just why readers can’t help but sing the praises of author Sophie Lark. The series is a collection of hate to love stories that are sure to capture some part of you. Her writing draws you in almost immediately and takes you on an empirical ride into her imagination and deep into the sometimes dark lives of her characters. From high society to the seedy underbelly of some of the most well know cities in the world, there is something for everyone. The characters are well rounded and relatable even if the situations are not always so. Best of all, she writes strong female characters that are powerful on their own without the need of a man. Meanwhile, she writes male characters that could make even the coldest heart swoon. Add to this the HEAs and what more could you ask for?! This is a series I know that I will read again.

I received a free copy of this book courtesy of the author Sophie Lark in exchange for my honest review.
