Enjoyed this introductory novella to Susanna Craig's new series! Tabetha is a widow whose husband was essentially emotionally abusive. To help someone she loves, she volunteers to pose as Mrs. Goode and go to the household of the Earl of Stalbridge to ready it for his now orphaned niece and nephew, Unexpectedly, her childhood friend and crush Kit is now the earl. Kit has always loved Tabetha, going so far as to never marry because she was in his heart.

The duo quickly rekindle their connection. Their love story is short and sweet, and I could have used a few more pages to get to know them better, but I still liked this novella a lot. I always appreciate an older FMC, and I also loved Tabetha's relationship with her step-son. I am looking forward to the full-length books in this series.

3.5 stars, rounded to 4. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

Kit hires the famed interior designer Mrs. Goode to redecorate his home. Little does he know that "Mrs. Goode" is actually the stepson of the woman he once loved and lost. With her stepson by her side, widow Tabetha plays the role of the domestic doyenne—all the while falling in love with Kit all over again. Will they get a second chance at happiness?

I loved this book too much. All the characters are so wonderful and endearing—the novella ended too soon. I realize it's a prequel, but there's so much potential here for more. I hope the author offers a bonus story featuring these characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I really loved this novella which makes a gorgeous prequel to a promising new series! It’s basically a second chance romance, a trope that I don’t particularly like, but this time it was really well done and without too much angst. I literally ADORED Oliver, the heroine’s stepson, a sweet man with a great creative mind. Craig is an extremely talented author whom I discovered just recently and I’m making sure not to miss any of her books!

Nice Earls Do is a nice novella/novelette involving mature characters in their 40s having a second chance at love. It is the set-up for the series Mrs. Goode’s Magazine for Mischief. It is a good story that could have used some fleshing out between “Oh it’s you!” and “Be mine forever!”. It is fun and sweet and a nice hour or two. Looking forward to the first full novel.

This is a short, fun story that sets up a new series by Susanna Craig. I enjoyed the main characters and their romance. The characters are well-developed and Craig manages to fit a lot into a short amount of pages. Hopefully we will get see more of Kit and Tabetha in the other books in the series and learn more about where they go in their HEA.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nice Earls Do is the prequel to the new series Goode’s Guide to Misconduct by Susanna Craig.  What a wonderful way to introduce a new series!  Kit and Tabetha were childhood friends ripped apart when Tabetha married a titled gentleman.  Over twenty years later, fate brings Kit and Tabetha back together for a second chance at love.

This was a smartly paced, fun, passionate novella.  It is a quick read but does a beautiful job creating the foundation for a bright new series.  Kit and Tabetha were lovable, relatable characters.  Kit and Tabetha are in their forties; I like more mature romances.  This easy-to-read novel has excited me over the new Goode’s Guide To Misconduct series!  With such an excellent beginning, I can’t wait to see what is next!  I eagerly await the first full novel!

A fun little series starter from Susanna Craig! We really enjoyed the mature couple (he's 45, she's 41) and the setup. This is short even for a novella, and we would have loved just a little more development of the conflict, but it does its job and we're ready for the next books in the series.

16-Word Summaries:

Laine: Hints from Heloise but sexy and Heloise is your former love but it's actually her stepson.

Meg: Beth is pretending to be someone she’s not. Of course Kit sees through ALL her disguises.

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.
