First of all - this is a pretty cool concept. I love me a post apocalyptic-the-government-did-it-trust-no-one kind of vibe, really I do - I just thought that this was TOO short. I think it came in at 57 pages on KU and even if it had just 20 more pages to flesh out some of the really big ideas it had, I think I would have been more blown away. I've read stories of a similar length that leave an aching intrigue in my soul, and whilst this one almost flicked that switch - it just wasn't strong enough.

I will keep the author on my radar and see if any of their more long form content manages to achieve what this short story did not, as like I said - really cool concept.

Chilling and interesting, this short story will surprise you with its well-written characters (something not as common in short stories, I'm afraid) and its ending.
I'd love to see an extension of this premise.

I picked this one up on Amazon a little while back. I need more horror in my life and lately, it's been lacking. I figured I could fit this one in between other obligations without too much trouble. At only 37 pages, it's a super quick read.

The short story follows a professor and his student with whom he was having an affair. Trapped in a college building, surrounded by black-eyed creatures hiding in the snow, Dominic and Naia are questioning when the time to make a break for it will be. They do, chaos ensues. Other survivors show up. They make a break for it. More chaos. You get the picture.

Good story, interesting albeit predictable plot. Super short and several editing mistakes.

A very quick, haunting read. I went into this without any expectations and was well rewarded for it.

Please don't try to start puzzling things out or guessing at the plot twists, as this story is far too short to hold up.

This is terrible but it was free from Prime reading. Slapdash story that reads more like a rough draft. Lazy writing and a halfassed plot.
