One of my professors recommend this to me, he said it was an amazing book. It's more a 2.5/3 for me. I guess I just didn't find any of the information that interesting or particularly revelatory. Definitely not my favorite or most recommended cultural studies book.

Very interesting look into early Modern France as well as anthropological methods of historiography.

With a title like this, you're hard pressed to make a boring book. Darnton succeeds well at making a wonderful book about folklore, "fakelore", and French history.

This was a great, quicker read for history buffs! French cultural history is sadly something I am not too familiar with, and this book was really great as an introduction to the rich society that existed during the 17th and 18th centuries.
