I read this to be able to read the second in the series, a holiday novella and I really liked this one.
Second chance romance with some work rivalry. Twas hot and fun. The company and characters definitely set up for a great series. I am interested in more from so many characters.

All Esmerelda Sambrano-Peña wanted was for her father to acknowledge her and her hard work...and she has her chance to step into the limelight when he names her CEO of his Latino media corporation, Sambrano Studios, and grants her 25% of the shares instead of leaving it to his wife and Esme’s half-siblings.
The catch? She has one week to prove herself better for the job than acting-CEO Rodrigo Almanzar, the ex who left her reeling a decade ago.

I loved this and think it’s the way a 2nd chance romance in a contemporary setting can really work: the second chance at romance is tied intimately to the plot, as they are thrust in close professional proximity only to realize that their feelings never went away. The reason for the original breakup is both still relevant (related to Esmerelda’s father’s business) and also so long ago (10 years) that both Esme and Rodrigo have had a chance to grow into adults.

This was a quick spicy read! It's a second-chance romance with a lot of drama! Some parts really felt like a telenovela. I liked our MC's but sometimes I wanted to smack Esmerelda lmao. She would have these intimate moments with Rodrigo then ruin it by saying off-the-wall shit like "Too bad I have to steal your job", then be confused when he gives her the cold shoulder. Like, girl! Why did you say that in the first place?! lmaoo But the spice was good and I got my happily ever after!

Tropes: Second Chance

Dang, what a banger.

Adriana can write a friggin' book.

The rich family drama? The smut? The longing? Perfection.

This is exactly what I want out of a category romance.
