I absolutely loved this book. The dynamic and the story line (🤌🏻chef's kisses). Liz Tomforde is now on my auto-buy author list (even if it was just after one book). At one point I was really scared to pick up this book because Consider Me was a huge disappointment and this one gave a similar vibe. Now I have so many regrets about letting it sit on my shelves and collecting dust for months. This is a very long book, but I think the length is necessary to let Stevie and Zanders work out their fears, emotional traumas and internal demons. My favorite part was where Stevie made it clear about paparazzi and new reporters' words not only hurt her but many others who also suffered harsh judgements and comments on their curby or less than ideal bodies (here I am talking about VS model bodies with BMI less than 18). Whatever she received was no longer just about her but many other girls who felt less worthy because body shaming. Besides their struggles, I think the side characters were also crucial to the success of this story. I love seeing the Maddisons, other Raptor teammates especially Rio, doggies, Ryan and Indy on pages.

Heat: 🔥🔥-🔥🔥🔥

Loved this emotional sports romance! The banter was totally on point, but the real talk and emotional relationship building was everything. I loved how Stevie learned to stand up for herself. I loved Zee’s mental health journey and how much he supported Stevie through hers. I loved the found family vibes. The spice was nice too! Will definitely be reading more books in this series.

Spice was good but most of his early pursuit was just sexual harassment. Also I’m so tired of the “she doesn’t know her own beauty,” shtick esp with plus size characters.

I have some very mixed feelings about this book. I loved the plot itself as well as the characters but the third act breakup really pissed me off. The writing quality fluctuated and I think there were times when the author was really trying to make sure you understood the themes so she would write them out clearly and it just bothered me. It made things feel very cheesy. The first half of the book just felt very different than the second and I think it was that build into the third act breakup that made it seem sort of all over the place. However, that being said it was enjoyable and I definitely want to read the second book.
